Licensed Practical Nurse - Weekend Baylor Program
We are looking for a Baylor Weekend Program Licensed Practical Nurse to render good nursing care and assistance to residents assigned to unit, assist in supervising sub-ordinates; help maintain accurate resident records according to nursing home policy. On-the-spot interview!
Job Position
Assist the supervisor by participation in all activities of nursing service to insure good resident care.
Baylor Weekend Program 1: Monday or Friday 7AM - 11PM and Saturday or Sunday 7AM - 11 PM
Baylor Weekend Program 2: Monday or Friday 3PM - 7AM and Saturday or Sunday 3PM - 7 AM
Baylor Weekend Program 3: Saturday & Sunday 3PM - 7AM or Saturday & Sunday 7AM - 11PM
Required Qualifications
The Licensed Practical Nurse must possess:
- State licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Skilled Nursing Home LTC: 2 years (Preferred)
- Graduate of Licensed Practical School of Nursing
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Know your Fire, Safety, and Disaster Manual.
- Assist the supervisor by participation in all activities of nursing service to insure good resident care.
- When in charge of a unit, assume the full responsibility of the charge nurse.
- Some of the specific duties involved are:
- Performs nursing techniques for the comfort and well being of the resident.
- Prepares equipment and assists the physician during treatments or examinations.
- Administers prescribed medications orally and by injection.
- Changes or assist the physician in changing, dressing, cleaning wounds and incisions.
- Takes vital sign to detect deviations form normal and gauge progress of the resident.
- Observes records and reports to supervisor or physician residents’ condition, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
- Maintains residents’ medical records on nursing observations, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- And actions taken, such as medications and treatments given reactions, tests; intake and emission of liquids and solids, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
- Records nursing needs of resident on nursing care plan to assure continuity of care.
- Observes emotional stability of residents expresses interest in their progress and prepares them for continuing care after discharge.
- Explains procedures and treatments ordered to gain resident’s cooperation and allay apprehension.
- Must report to on-coming nurse, at the change of each tour of duty, from cardex. Also, must check narcotics with on-coming nurse, if applicable.
- Assumes responsibility for promoting good relationship among co-workers, other departments, residents, their families, and visitors.
- Be conservative of supplies and equipment.
- Assumes responsibility for her professional growth and development through participation in in-service programs and by attending staff meetings.
- It is the responsibility of all staff nurses to participate in the orientation of new personnel.
- Responsible for instruction to residents or their families when discharged home.
- Evaluates on a regular basis-nursing assistant on the unit.
- Perform other duties, as may be required, to insure a high level of patient safety.
Full vaccination against COVID-19 or a medical/religious exemption is required.
Salary/ Wage Range
Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
